Psilocybe Azurescens are classified as its own strain of magic mushroom. Most shrooms we carry at 3 Amigo are from from the psilocybin cubensis genus.

Psilocybe azurescens is considerably stronger than most psilocybin cubensis strains I.e golden teachers.

This strain was first documented by a group of Boy Scouts camping close to the Colombia River in Oregon in 1979. Years later, the legendary mycologist Paul Stamets formally named the mushroom “Psilocybe azurescens” after Stamets’  Son Azureus.

If hiking in BC, Keep an eye out for Azurescens, as they grow all along the forests of the Pacific North West. Their cap are caramel in colour and shaped like a nipple with serrated type edge and a thick stem. If you see a fresh azzie you’ll immediately know why they are named the flying saucer mushroom.

Psilocybe Azurescens | Effects and Potency

Most people are likely to be more familiar with Psilocybe cubensis, the incredibly cosmopolitan species grown in cupboards and under beds all over the planet. In contrast to Psilocybe cubensis, Psilocybe azurescens are strong! Hold onto your hats, because they can be intense, highly visual, potentially hyperdimensional, and leave you wondering, “whoah…. What happened!”

One dried gram, or as little as a few dried shrooms, could be a potent dose, so psychonauts (or psilonauts) should be cautious with these powerful fungi. Their potent strength has also made them a popular choice for microdosing, since very little is needed to produce the intended effects.

P. cubensis contain psilocybin and psilocin at 0.14–0.42 percent and 0.37–1.30 percent, respectively—whereas, P. azurescens contain approximately 1.78 percent psilocybin, 0.38 percent psilocin, and 0.35 percent baeocystin, according to Stamets and Gartz’ account. Azurescens contain significantly more psilocybin than psilocin (psilocybin being more stable, deteriorating more slowly than psilocin) so that after a few months of storage in a cool dark environment, the mushrooms tend to retain most of their original potency.

This is one of our top 3 strongest strains. According to Stamets, Azurescens contain significantly ( 5x ) more psilocybin when compared with other cubes. My recent experience also confirms it, they’re strong af!

Milder doses 1g – 2g – Expect epic colourful visuals, intense feelings of euphoria, laughter and joy with deep introspectiveness.

High dose 3g + –  Expect a trans-formative experience, astral projections, bouts of uncontrolled laughter, deep sense of wonder, strong body high.

Mega dose 4g +   Buckle up or ideally lie down, this strain at this dosage is considered a strong dose. Users can expect Mystical experience with Life-changing introspective and philosophical insights.

If you are lemon trekking this shroom please reduce your dose by half. 2g can be like 4g and a trip can quickly become overwhelming. It’s best to have a sober friend or loved one to be a spotter.
